      Thepurposeofthis taskistodevelopthedistanceformula,baseduponstudents’understandingofthePythagoreantheorem.Inthetask,studentsareaskedtocalculatedistancesbetweenpointsusingtriangles,andthentoformalizetheprocesstothedistanceformula. At the endof thetask, students will use the distanceformula to findtheperimeter of a hexagon.
