Typically bacteria/cell growth is exponential, also continuously compounded interest, but the most interesting example, in my opinion, is Moore’s Law. It states that the number of transistors on integrated circuits doubles every 2 years (or 18 months in some versions). This leads to faster processing speed, more memory, and other things. It’s not an observed trend either, it was a prediction in a 1965 paper by Moore and we’ve held to it ever since (statistically, i.e. within a certain amount of error) despite a lot of skepticism.
