Powerpoint lesson on parabolas (conics) attached.
Slides 7-10 depict real life situations in which a parabola and its focus are used.
-Our eye requires glasses if the focus is off even a little
-Satellite dishes are disrupted when it rains because the focus is altered. The focus must be in the proper spot to transmit data. The last slide is the largest radio telescope in the world located at the Arecibo observatory in Puerto Rico
