A simple assignment that I gave my students for homework (and one they even enjoyed) was for them to create four trig triangles of their own–a triangle with one value and an x–and then they had to solve for x. They had to create one triangle in which Sine was used to solve, one for Cosine, and one for Tangent. They also had to write one word problem of their own and draw the picture and solve for x.
